Training Overview

This 3-day Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) training is designed for NGO practitioners to enhance their skills in designing, implementing, and managing effective M&E systems. The training will focus on practical tools, frameworks, and techniques to track project progress, assess impact, and improve decision-making.

Day 1: Introduction to M&E

Session 1: Understanding M&E

  • Definition and importance of M&E in NGO projects
  • Differences between monitoring and evaluation
  • M&E in the project lifecycle

Session 2: Designing an M&E System

  • Key components of an effective M&E system
  • Developing logical frameworks (LogFrame)
  • Setting indicators for measuring project success

Session 3: Data Collection Methods

  • Quantitative vs. qualitative data collection
  • Designing surveys and interviews
  • Ethical considerations in data collection

Day 2: Tools and Techniques for Effective M&E

Session 4: Data Management & Analysis

  • Data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, Excel)
  • Data validation and quality control
  • Data analysis tools (SPSS)

Session 5: Developing M&E Plans

  • Creating M&E frameworks
  • Developing reporting templates
  • Budgeting for M&E activities

Session 6: Mid-Term & End-Term Evaluations

  • Conducting formative and summative evaluations
  • Using participatory evaluation approaches
  • Reporting findings and recommendations

Day 3: Using M&E for Learning and Decision-Making

Session 7: Communicating M&E Results

  • Writing M&E reports
  • Presenting M&E findings to stakeholders
  • Using M&E data for donor reporting and fundraising

Session 8: Action Planning & Way Forward

  • Developing individual M&E action plans
  • Addressing challenges in M&E implementation
  • Closing remarks and certificate issuance

Training Outcome

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Be able to design and implement an M&E system for NGO projects.
