Kenya’s national youth policy, “visualizes a society where youth have an equal opportunity as other citizens to realize their fullest potential, productively participating in economic, social, political, cultural and religious life without fear or favour.” Despite this visualization, youth in Kenya continue to face myriad of challenges including but not limited to lack of employment, lack of basic youth support services, substance abuse, youth reproductive health issues and breaking of family and societal value system. Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) aims to empower youth through providing skill-based-training in various fields of development including but not limited to project management, research, ICT, entrepreneurship, among others.
Project Management
The program equips youth basics of project management including project planning, proposal writing skills and Project Evaluation
Research Skills
The program equips youth with research skills including writing research concepts, conducting literature review, drawing research design and methodology, developing data collection instruments, data coding and analysis
ICT Skills
The program covers ICT skill development areas including web designing using content management applications, Graphic designing, Animation, Video Editing among others
Entrepreneurship
The program offers training in entrepreneurial skills aimed at helping the youth to start a business for livelihood. This training creates self employment for self-reliance.
